July 24, 2022 – So, it’s been a minute since our last post in March 2020, and I don’t have to tell you why. I have fewer readers now, and I bet you are missing some folks in your life too. But if life is short, we’d better get on with enjoying the time we’ve been given!
Jim booked this Scotland hike several years ago, so he reactivated our reservations this spring, and we started to plan. We are scheduled to hike the West Highland Way (96 miles) and the Great Glen Way (78 miles) over the next month.
The map below shows our daily hiking goals in blue. The yellow stars at bottom right show our arrival In Edinburgh, and the yellow star at bottom center shows the start of our hike in Glasgow.

We are several years older than when we initially thought this hike would be a great idea. The world has changed and so have we. Can we do it? Only one way to find out!
Oh I can’t wait to follow your posts and see your photos! I would so love to go to Scotland. Some of my ancestors were from near Glasgow! Enjoy every minute. Will you be going to Skye? Eileen Donan Castle and also Donottar Castle in Stonehaven. I have a friend, Colin and Fiona Clyne near there.

Well Nancy, you’re traveling with us, so now you’ll get to see some of Scotland! My Scottish grandmother was from Glasgow also. No Skye, but we’re told that there’s beauty everywhere. Can’t wait!

Looks like a fabulous trip!
I hope you’re not getting the extreme heat that parts of Europe are getting!

Thanks Janice. On the very hottest day of last week’s heatwave, it barely broke 70 degrees where we’ll be hiking. Cool and rainy is what we’re looking forward to!

Love that you are on another adventure and look forward to reading all about it. Scotland is a wonderful country. I actually am a Scottish Lady as I own just a square foot of land – a gift from my UK QVC friends. Enjoy every step!

Thanks Julie! Where is your square foot of land? Maybe we’ll walk close by? Thanks for reading along.

I’m excited for both of you as well as myself since I’ll be visiting Scotland vicariously with both of you. I enjoy seeing the many awesome photos and reading about your travels. Wishing you a wonderful time and a safe journey. If you have a chance, please send some of that Scottish rain and cool weather to California. We need it so desperately.
